Yearly Archives: 2009
Back up to my old tricks
I know I said I wouldn’t do this any more because I was happy but after having a week off work, I have decided to change the theme on my site yet again.
I think I am finally happy (for now) with the theme but like most good things, they always come to an end, and no doubt next year I will be changing the theme again.
Sorry people!!
What have I been upto?
So I haven’t blogged for a while, there is a good reason for that but at present i can’t really say anything about it, yeah sorry but it’s not very interesting either.
As I write this i am currently sat in my car, in a muddy puddle on a country lane somewhere near Gainsborough, why? The dogs are getting groomed which takes 2 hours and I can’t be bothered to drive anywhere or for that fact get anything to eat.
Not really been up to much this month apart from the usual:
❑ Working
❑ Cleaning the house
❑ Playing on the Wii
❑ Playing on the 360
❑ Playing on the PS3
So you know the usual guy stuff.
Christmas Party
I had a very great time in Bournemouth for our Company Christmas party which I had to miss last year, still it ended up in a few of us drinking, dancing, acting around, chatting and also meeting people for the first time who we speak to on a day to day basis which was nice.
We started drinking at 3:30pm and quite a few of us were still up at 4:30am, me being me was trying to find a kebab shop at the early hours of the morning but when no one would come and have a walk into town with me I gave it up as a bad job, plus not sure if any would have been opened at 4:45am :-/ I guess that is one question I will have to find the answer to before next time!
On the way home I called off at McDonalds where I felt the need to buy two large meals (1 large quarter pounder meal and also a large McChicken sandwich meal) I ate the quarter pounder meal before I set off again and also had the McChicken sandwich meal when I got home, was really nice to have it cold too! Just the way I expected!
I got home around 3:30pm and was greeted from my wife and 2 dogs, the wife wasn’t best pleased as she thought i would fetch home a McDonalds and when she realised I had 2 on the way up it made her angry, you wont like her when she’s angry! But I was feeling fresh and wide awake! To say I had just done a 4.5 hour drive I was really surprised how I was feeling and decided we should go shopping to get christmas decorations.
We got back from the shop, I got the tree out of the loft and then it happened….
Yep I made the mistake of laying down for 2 minutes and then my wife took this photo of me, completely out, this infuriated her some more as she was now left to put the entire tree up all by her self and she didn’t even want to do it in the first place.
Weeks annual leave
Yep I decided to take a full week of leave to use all of my remaining holiday days up, this has been great, although saying that I haven’t really done much and I have to work all over christmas, it’s going to be interesting to see what I can achieve in the next couple of days.
Have a Great Christmas and a happy New Year!
I just want to say I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Oh and I also got very muddy!!

How strange, same thought last year
I have just been looking through my blog posts for december 2007 where I found this post
It’s really got me thinking because I was only thinking that I cannot get into the christmas spirit this year either, this year is not something to do with moving house but something a little more serious and will be very glad when it’s over. It’s kind of taking over my mind this year and I guess it will till the end of the year, just be glad when it’s all over.
Christmas is over over rated and just an excuse to spend lots and lots of money and buy people presents that they don’t even want.
Bah humbug – really starting to think am turning into the Grinch.

Mac OS X Shortcut: Quick Hide Dock
If you are like me and you are always changing your desktop, moving icons around or just want a different look for the time you are on the computer then this may be handy for you.
This shortcut command will allow you to quickly hide/show the Mac OS X dock.
⌘-option-d
Pressing it once will hide it, pressing it for a second time will show the dock again.
It doesn’t make it go away permanently, this command only activated / disabled quick hide dock.
My Twitter New Years Resolution Starting Now!
I’ve come to a decision today that I really need to sort out my twitter life. Like many things that I start to do, I find my self getting incredibly bored with things and twitter is becoming one of them. I find myself getting new followers and I don’t even take the time the check out what they are about, whether or not they are spammers, or whether they are people I know, people I may be interested to follow or even have the curtsy to follow them back, even if it is just for a little while to get to know them.
At the end of the day that is what twitter is about isn’t it? finding people that interest you and follow their daily tweets? Find out new and interesting people from all over the globe striking up conversations with people that you will probably have never even met in the real world?
I seem to have been on a streak the last few months of trying to get as many people to follow me as possible and follow the least amount of people that I possibly can, but that is about to change. From now on anyone who starts to follow me (who isn’t a spammer) I am going to follow preparing for my new years resolution (well one of them) to keep on track and make even more friends on twitter.
If people want to follow me I can guarantee I will follow you back from now on. @rhodzy is who you need to follow.
Spammers, please stay away you won’t be followed you will simply be added to my twitter list @rhodzy/spammers and then every now and again I may send the odd hate message to it! haha you have been warned.
So starting from tonight, I will be going through all the people I follow, that follow me, and the people who are not spammers will be getting followed from me @rhodzy
Sorry it’s taken me so long to realise this but at least the time has now come.
Birdbrain app for the iPhone will allow me to do this quickly by keeping me upto date with how many followers I have gained and lost and people who I am following it will tell me if they are following me back.
Let the tweets roll in and the friend making begin!
Has ridden the wave, Surfs Over.
For some time I have been using Google Wave now, to be honest it’s getting a little boring and the excitement of something is new is wearing thin. I used to find myself keeping it logged in every day just waiting for new waves to come, searching for new waves, joining in on conversations and also making new friends, but the shinyness is wearing off and I find myself logging in at least once a week now. I no longer have waveboard running on my Mac or Macbook to check for new waves, I no longer log in on my iPhone and it’s getting even less that I login on the web browser.
I think I will completely boycott it altogether now just until it comes out of BETA mode as it seems a little pointless and not fun anymore. It will be great when more people can have access and I can get all my friends on but until then my Surfing days are slowly coming to the end.
Hurry up Google and get things moving along!
