Story of the Bristol Leaf
I did have a blog post I was going to write which I was hoping would be an on-going theme for a while on my blog but unfortunately this came to an end on my way to work.
After working in Bristol for two days I got back in my car and started the 200 mile journey back up to Yorkshire, I was pulling out of the car park when I noticed a leaf stuck on my windscreen wipers, I tried everything to get it off, cleaning my window hoping some water may hit it, put the wipers on hoping it would blow off but even after all these attempts the little fellow just wouldn’t budge.
I accepted that it would probably blow off on the motorways, maybe on the M5 or if not the M5 the M42, but the little leaf just didn’t move, after a while I found myself hoping that it wouldn’t blow off and wondered how long I could keep it on my car.
After the 200 mile drive home, I pulled up outside my house and it was still there! The little leaf from Bristol which had been on my car for 48 hours was still there….I was amazed, it was an obvious sign that this leaf wanted to stay attached to my car.
I woke up this morning and supprisingly it was still there!! So I set off on my 38 mile journey into the office and tackled the M1 and also the M62 and it still wasn’t letting go of my car! I was so pleased, but then disaster happened, I pulled off the M62 and suddenly I saw it clinging on with dear life, I could see the fear in its leafy surface as it was about to blow away =(
Then it happened it finally gave up the fight =( I was so sad, I also felt a tear appear in my eyes.
The plan was to take photos of of myself with this leaf who had become a dear friend at every location I went to =(
I doubt I will ever see the little fella again but my thoughts are with him where ever he may be.
Congestion Charge & Road Tax WTF?!
[singlepic id=43 w=320 h=240 float=left]This is something that has always got me confused and this is what I think is meant by Congestion Charge & Road Tax.
Congestion Charge
With congestion charge I would have thought this is using the roads in and out of the centre of busy places such as London and the charge was for you to be able to use the main roads in the centre of the city pretty spot on? Clogging up the roads in the main capital and that is why you have to pay and also for using the roads. I wonder how many other people think the same as me on that one? Pretty straight forward if you ask me.
BUT wait NO! Why is it that the following cars don’t have to pay the congestion charge…
- Electric Cars
- Hybrid Cars
- Alternative Fual Cars
- LPG Converted Cars
Doesnt make any sense what so ever.
Road Tax
OK this is what I think is meant by road tax, you pay a fee per 6 months or per year to use the roads, this then goes to pay to maintain the roads which is understandable.
But yet again NO! Apparently the Road Tax is baised on the ammount of emmisions and the size of the car? Why the hell call it road tax then? Why not emmissions tax or something along them lines. Yet again the following cars get Road Tax cheaper or in some cases don’t have to pay Road Tax.
- Electric Cars
- Hybrid Cars
- Alternative Fual Cars
- LPG Converted Cars
So let me get this straight, Electric cars, hubrid cars, alternative fual cars and LPG converted cars done have to pay the congestion charge, they also get cheaper or no Road Tax Charges…OK but surely if they are in a congested area, they must be part of the reason why the congestion charge is in place? So why do they get it free?
Congestion Charge should be called = Just another way for the Government to make money and charge us for stupid of things that don’t make sense.
Road Tax should be called = Emissions tax – at the end of the day this is what it is based on so why have the name Road Tax?

Update twitter & facebook together
Recently I have been updating facebook and twitter roughly at the same time, not been posting the same things but after a while I stopped and thought “I don’t really update my facebook account that much, why don’t I just find something that will update them both with the click of a button” Now it’s not exactly the same as updating each one seperate as your stuck the 140 charactor limit when updating them both together but this is enough for me “if u jus strt shortnin the words thn u wil b fine” << Looks a little shite though to be honest but it gets what you are trying to say across.
I know this can be done from the desktop machine in Tweetdeck, so I thought I would give Tweetdeck ago on the iPhone to see if that option was avaliable…but unfortunately it wasnt….back to the drawing board.
I finally came across an app called “Duo for iPhone” this allows you to type a message (140 charactors long) and allows you to post it to both facebook and twitter from the same screen. GREAT!
It does seem a little buggy and sometimes crashes but still a great little app and to say its free, makes it even better. Check out the App store and have a little look for it. Give it ago, perfect for any facebook and twitter users.
It does have some little draw backs but depends what you want from a client, it does not allow you to read tweets or status updates on facebooks, it simply allows you to update you status on both twitter and facebook.
Enjoy!
