My Twitter New Years Resolution Starting Now!

Author: rhodzy  //  Category: Twitter

I’ve come to a decision today that I really need to sort out my twitter life. Like many things that I start to do, I find my self getting incredibly bored with things and twitter is becoming one of them. I find myself getting new followers and I don’t even take the time the check out what they are about, whether or not they are spammers, or whether they are people I know, people I may be interested to follow or even have the curtsy to follow them back, even if it is just for a little while to get to know them.

At the end of the day that is what twitter is about isn’t it? finding people that interest you and follow their daily tweets? Find out new and interesting people from all over the globe striking up conversations with people that you will probably have never even met in the real world?

I seem to have been on a streak the last few months of trying to get as many people to follow me as possible and follow the least amount of people that I possibly can, but that is about to change. From now on anyone who starts to follow me (who isn’t a spammer) I am going to follow preparing for my new years resolution (well one of them) to keep on track and make even more friends on twitter.

If people want to follow me I can guarantee I will follow you back from now on. @rhodzy is who you need to follow.

Spammers, please stay away you won’t be followed you will simply be added to my twitter list @rhodzy/spammers and then every now and again I may send the odd hate message to it! haha you have been warned.

So starting from tonight, I will be going through all the people I follow, that follow me, and the people who are not spammers will be getting followed from me @rhodzy

Sorry it’s taken me so long to realise this but at least the time has now come.

Birdbrain app for the iPhone will allow me to do this quickly by keeping me upto date with how many followers I have gained and lost and people who I am following it will tell me if they are following me back.

Let the tweets roll in and the friend making begin!

Has ridden the wave, Surfs Over.

For some time I have been using Google WaveGoogle WaveGoogle Wave now, to be honest it’s getting a little boring and the excitement of something is new is wearing thin. I used to find myself keeping it logged in every day just waiting for new waves to come, searching for new waves, joining in on conversations and also making new friends, but the shinyness is wearing off and I find myself logging in at least once a week now. I no longer have waveboard running on my Mac or Macbook to check for new waves, I no longer log in on my iPhone and it’s getting even less that I login on the web browser.

I think I will completely boycott it altogether now just until it comes out of BETA mode as it seems a little pointless and not fun anymore. It will be great when more people can have access and I can get all my friends on but until then my Surfing days are slowly coming to the end.

Hurry up GoogleGoogleGoogle and get things moving along!

Review: App Store: Tube Deluxe

Author: rhodzy  //  Category: app store, application reviews, iphone

Screenshot2009-11-29at18.07.39.png This little application is something I could have really done with last weekend when I was down in LondonLondon reviewsLondon reviews. It’s a must have application for anyone who is going to be using the tube system in London who doesn’t use it on a regular basis!

This little application will allow you to plan journeys, find the nearest tube entrance, get updates on stations and lines such as maintenance, planned closures , part closers and suspended lines.

You can also find out the departure times in real time and also browse the full tube system map on your iPhone.

Loading Screen

photo-212.jpg

Main Menu

From here you can choose exactly what you want to do. You will see across the bottom the options that are available.

photo-222.jpg

As you can see the option that is selected by default is “Status” this screen allows you to select the line you want and find out critical information such as closures, planned closures, if the service is running as normal etc.

You can choose the line you want and you should see a screen like the one below showing the exact details.

photo-232.jpg

You can also browse the “Maps” section which allows you to view the whole of the tube map on your iPhone, which is of course fully scrollable showing you all the stations.

photo-242.jpg

photo-252.jpg

The “Plan” Option will allow you to plan your route and will tell you which line you need to be on, which stations you need to swap and shows you the other stations you will pass along the route.

photo-262.jpg

Simply select the From Station where you will be presented with the full list of stations which is of course searchable so you don’t need to scroll through them all.

photo-272.jpg

After selection it will revert you back to the “Plan” screen where you will now need to do the same for the destination. After this has been done simply click on Itinerary and you will be presented with this screen, for this journey we have done a short journey from Piccadilly Circus to Embankment.

photo-28.jpg

If we now click on the “Departures” tab we will need to select our line and also station that we are going from, it will then display all the times that the tubes depart and when the next one is. They are really regular sometimes every couple of minutes so no need to panic if you miss the first one!

Select the line:

Select your Outgoing station: I have used Piccadilly again as an example.

You can also use the “locate” tab which will use the built in GPSGPS reviewsGPS reviews to find the nearest station to you.

Now because I am no longer in London the distance for me is quite….well a distance!

Allow access for “Tube DeluxeDeluxe reviewsDeluxe reviews” to use your current location

photo-31.jpg

You will then be presented with a list of stations that are close to your location.

Select the one that is closest to you:

Change Mac OS X Login Window

Author: rhodzy  //  Category: mac, techy / geeky

Please note this is for Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6

ChangeChange reviewsChange reviews the Login Screen Wallpaper Image in Snow Leopard 10.6 (also works for Leopard 10.5)

LaunchLaunch reviewsLaunch reviews the terminal and issue the following commands:

* cd /SystemSystem reviewsSystem reviews/Library/CoreServices
* sudo mv DefaultDesktop.jpg DefaultDesktop_org.jpg
* sudo cp /path/of/image.jpg DefaultDesktop.jpg

Of course, change /path/of/image.jpg to the path of the image file you want to use. Basically what you’re doing here is moving to a folder, backing up the old “DefaultDesktop.jpg” by renaming it, and then copying in the new image and naming it “DefaultDesktop.jpg” instead.

EditeDit reviewseDit reviews: DonDon reviewsDon reviews’t pay for apps that do this for you, the method above works great and it’s totally free, If you are like me you will change your desktop wallpaper quite frequently and also you can now change the boring login window within OS X : ) enjoy!
