Android App – Task Manager Review
PLEASE NOTE YOU NEED TO HAVE ROOT ACCESS TO USE THIS APP!
![]()
This little application will help save the battery on your G1 and help preserve memory by closing down applications that you no longer need running, eg from the screenshot above right now I could and will disable Connectbot, Messaging because I last used these around two hours ago!
I would rate this app 9/10 does exactly what you need from a task manager.
This App can be downloaded from the Android Market! But you do need to have Root access on your G1 or you will receive errors about cannot connect as root.
Enjoy!
Android App – Screen Crack Review
Screen Crack is a great little app to fool your friends/family that your G1 screen is broken! Its looks pretty good too, I have fooled a few people with this App. Will get bored of it eventually but for now it is staying on my phone!
All buttons are disabled when the application is running, the only button that will allow you to exit the app is the home button.
The application can be found in the Android Market
I will rate this 7/10
This is a screen shot taken from my Phone.

Android App – ChompSMS Review
I have just installed ChompSMS and it is the only thing that has been missing from the G1! Now the G1 has the same features as the iPhone and much much more! ChompSMS is an SMS client for the G1, its supports the use of the accelerometer which mean turn your phone on its side and watch the screen turn! The best feature of this software is the on screen keyboard! I must say this works very well and not had any issues with it so far! So forget about opening the keypad everytime you want to text!
You also have the options to send SMS text messages via your carrier or via your ChompSMS account.
Some options from the application:
- Send Texts from ChompSMS
- Send Texts from Carrier
- Buy Credits from Chompsms
- Lost your credits
- Display notifications
- Select Message Tone
- Vibrate when a message is received
- Message counter
- Use larger fonts
- Send using Enter key
- Touchscreen – Click Sound
- Touchscreen – Vibrate
- Touchscreen – Landscape
Here are a few screenshots from my Phone.

Android App – Pkt Auctions eBay
What a great application this is! A must have for any eBay user with an Android mobile phone. Search ebay directly from your mobile phone! It has some unique ways of searching too, scan any barcode and search for the product directly on eBay! I can honestly say I havent managed to scan a bar code and find the product on ebay but this is still a great feature to have!
The main page tabs include:
- My eBay
- Deals
- Live Chat
- Scan
- Settings
- About
When you log into your eBay via this application it really has a nice, crisp interface which offers the following tabs
- Watching
- Buying
- Selling
Keep track of the most important things on eBay!
You can set the application to notify you 10/15 minutes before an item you are bidding on is about to end, so there is never an excuse not to win the item you want and say “I forgot what time it was going to end!” This option is also avaliable on items you are watching!
There are options on which eBay site you would like to use as your primary site either UK or US sites avaliable and option to enable you to search UK and US eBay sites.
This application get a 9/10 rating from me!
This application is avaliable for download from the Android Market
Android App – GFindster Review
I have just installed the GFindster application which is basically a chat application that uses your GPS location to find other G1 users also using the application. There are various settings you can setup like, set your own username, whether or not you would like to recieve messages when you exit the application to do something else. You can also find recent Twitter posts around your area as well, this is a pretty useful feature if you are a dedicated Twitter user and like to find out what other users are doing in your area.
I personal found this application a great idea BUT a little intrusive and full on. There seems to be no organisation on how the messages are displayed they just seem to pop up from all directions of your screen, if in the main window. It displays online users by using the Google MAPS display which is a really cool way of doing it, I do like the fact you can look at your area, select an online user and start a chat with them, view profile etc. When i launched the application there was also no need to register, just simply add your username and chat.
The reason I thought this application was a little intrusive was after I ended the application messages were still popping up on my screen for 2 minutes after I closed the APP and then I recieved the EXIT message. Maybe a future release will get around this little but anoying issue!
I wont be leaving this application on my phone as I dont really chat alot online.
I would rate this application 3/10
This application is avaliable from the Android Market
Android App – MarioSimulator Review
Mario lover? Always wanted to jump and here the grabbing of coins? Then you will absolutely love this application! Mario Simulator makes it seem like you are in the Mario game, simply fire up the application, set the music to play (Mario theme song) and then run around the room! Everytime you jump with your mobile in your hand you will here the “Boing” that happens on the Mario Game!
I have to honestly say I used this application for about 3 minutes for the first three days I had it and then got bored of it, although I will not be removing it from my Phone as it is pretty cool and if you ever feel like having a Mario day then you could always fire this application up!
Rating – 6/10
