Connecting iMac to iPhone VIA bluetooth

For some time now I have been trying to get my iMac to connect to my iPhone via bluetooth, but recently found out this cannot be done as the bluetooth on the iPhone is not for DATA connections, basically just bluetooth headsets GUTTED!
