I’m back….

Yay after a few days of pulling my hair out with powweb and moving hosting companies rhodzy.co.uk is finally back online.

REASON I MOVED
powweb.com is the hosting company I have been with for the past two years and had nothing but trouble with them, because I didn’t know much about websites and only really used it for a blog I decided to stay with them, but over the past few months I have been getting more and more into websites etc, and have I think to date it is 10 sites running.

Powweb.com have been hosting all of these sites and the other day when I went to look at them I got “The Directory has no index file” I got this for all of my sites.  I FTPd to the server and checked and it was right…there was no index.php files….how strange they were only there the day before. I went straight on the online chat and told tech support…this was there answer..”You need to set a stronger password, someone must have got your password and deleted all of your index.php files” now I know this had to be bullshit as my password was the strongest there could possibly be with a combi of over 10 numbers, letter and symbols. I asked if they could backup the files for me and they basically told me NO!

So the change was made, I today cancelled my powweb account and signed upto a hosting company in the UK. Unlimited MySQL databases, Unlimited websites to host, Unlimited Bandwidth, Unlimited everything basically and the speed is great, alot faster than powweb.com oh and a free domain name for life, due to me already having rhodzy.co.uk, rhodzy.com I decided to get rhodzy.net with it being free.

rhodzy.net & rhodzy.com are not currently in use but have plans for the rhodzy.com

Lets hope this hosting company doesnt let me down!

All other sites transfered over easily but this one was a pain in the arse due to the sheer size of the thing. Nearly 1GB in size with all files, pictures etc.

The only thing I had trouble moving over was the gallery2 installation that was joined to this site, I decided to scrap this which will mean some posts on this site will not show images that should, this being the images I didnt upload with the built in upload utility I uploaded them to my gallery2 installation and used WPG2 to post into posts.

Its good to be back!

  1. Thanks for this article. In my opinion, JustHost is a good company, I currently use them to host my websites. It’s great to see other bloggers writing about them! :)
