restoration begins on rhodzy.co.uk

I have made the decision today I will spend a couple of hours restoring the best of a bad job when it comes to my blog, this will be no quick task nor an easy one, but I am attempting to fix the mess I have created over the past couple of years. I already made the decision late last year that I should move from my old hosting company Powweb to a more local hosting company in the UK.  That caused me some issues, but eventually I got there and move all ten of my sites across successfully.

I have made a few changes already this morning, some behind the scenes changes, which have made a big change from an admin point of view.

The contact form on the “contact” has also been updated which allows me to customize the form in lots of different ways, e.g add file upload boxes, password boxes, comment boxes and lots of other options, for now I have just left it as the default contact page, until I have in my mind 100% what I want from a contact form and what information I want from my readers.

I will also be taking some of the hints and tips from Jamie Harrop a local blogging guru from my area who seems to be doing well with it, check out http://www.bloggingzest.com for more information on what he does and what he can offer you!

I know I whine and whine and go on about my theme for the site, but have decided for the time being I am actually going to stick with the one selected until I have the funds to pay for a developer to customise me one!

I will keep updating this post with a list of the changes I have made, the ones that are staying and the ones I have tried but have left the building.

Any ideas would be great?

CHANGES

>Replaced my old contact form with a much more customisable one, cforms II is provided by deliciousdayspicture-1

>>All posts that are now made from my BlackBerry or Mobile Device will be added to the BlackBerry Posts category, they will also appear in the centre of the main page listed as ASIDES.

>>>About me page has changed, this is now a more personal page so you the readers can get to know a little about me, a little more than you could before.

>>>>NoSpamNX installed – fingers crossed this will work better than WP-SPAMFREE and stop spam bots from posting and filling out my contact forms.WP-SPAMFREE disabled for now, it seems spammers were finding new ways around this app and still getting through.

>>>>>Mail On Update plugin installed, this is a neat little plugin I have just stumbled across that will email me when a update is avaliable for a plugin that is in use for my site, this way I will always stay on top of keeping plugins upto date on my site.

So far so good, everything I have tried has worked and happy with the outcome…Time to log off and go play on PS3 for a while.
