iPad went strange today..

So, yesterday I Jailbroke my iPad running 5.0.1 with @pod2g‘s untethered jailbreak for A4 devices.

I was playing around with Cydia and installing some of the usual applications like:

iFile, Winterboard, SBSettings as well as some more random applications, as soon as I find the website where I was getting the ideas from I will list them all. However when I rebooted my iPad it came back up and let me log in fine, however I noticed the icons were strangely spaced out (which makes me think Winterboard) may have been to blame but until I replicate the error I cannot be sure. All of my applications thought they were running on an iPhone. My touch screen wouldnt work within applications so I couldnt remove apps from Cydia either.

The only way to get around it was to restore and re-jailbreak.

Investigations continue.

UPDATE: I did also install the FullForce application

iTunes Match – VirginMedia Problems

So yesterday I posted about iTunes Match upload problems on my slow internet connection. Well I say slow, it’s currently 10mb download and not too sure about the upload speed.

After some searching on the internet I came across a Virgin Media blog where quite a few people are complaining about iTunes Match uploading music to the cloud and people seem to be coming across quite a few errors, some not being able to upload and getting error messages within iTunes and some just taking forever. I myself am in the taking forever to upload category.

Apparently VirginMedia have a cap in place where if you upload too much data within the times of 3pm – 8pm you will be auto lowered onto the capped upload speed. However I tried this morning (I currently have 386) that need to be uploaded. However after 2 hours, it had only uploaded 7 songs.

I have a nasty feeling that on the 13th January when I get upgraded to 100mb broadband, it’s not going to make any difference.

I also read that some people tethered onto their O2 iPhone connection and the iTunes Match started uploading quicker than it was on a Virgin Media 100mb Fibre Optic connection.

I hope Virgin sort this out soon, you would have thought with Fibre connections this sort of thing would be small fry to upload a few hundred mb of data.

Oh dear 3rd BlackBerry problem!

BlackBerry problems continue yet again, this time it saw me downloading a theme, installing the theme, not liking the theme, reverting back to the default theme and then the phone dying.

Well as the above pretty much explains it all, I’m not quite sure what is going wrong with my BB Torch, all I know is that it is really starting to annoy the hell out of me, all I wanted to do was change the theme, so I spent time looking for a compatible theme, downloaded it as you would have to and applied. The theme worded fine but I decided I didn’t like it so I reverted back, however I was then presented with a  lovely white screen displaying “App Error 603” and the nice restart button. Once hitting the restart button I was expecting to have the same white screen again but this was not the case, the phone booted up with the default theme applied and all seems ok. However the BlackBerry is really starting to annoy me as even when performing a simple task such as changing a theme it throws a wobbly. Seriously this is going to take some patience I reckon and believe me I don’t usually have that much.

Oh dear 2nd Blackberry problem!

Well here we go again! Yet another problem with my BlackBerry Torch. This time it was something a little more serious. Yep you got it OS failed. This happened when I tried to access the “Email Account Management” option within the email settings.

When I tried to access I got a message telling me the application needed to be updated and I was presented with two options “Yes” or “No” if I selected to know it would return me back to the previous menu and wouldn’t allow me to go any further. If I selected “Yes” I get the download page telling me to download the application “Email Setup Application” Version 6.11.0324.1701, if I selected “Download” the application would error with “com.rim.bis.client” contains a different version of module “net_rim_bis_client” which is also used by “Email Setup Application” If you proceed,”Email Setup Application” may cease to function properly. Now if I selected “continue” this would install the application on my phone, if I selected “Cancel” it would cancel the download and return me back to the main menu.

Now me being me decided to click “continue” just to see if it worked or not, however my phone rebooted and would not boot displaying a nice white screen with App Error 606 click to restart. When you clicked restart you was just left with a nice BlackBerry startup logo and then 30 minutes later the same error would appear again.

The only way I found round this situation was to reinstall the OS. To this day I still don’t know how I can get around this problem and nothing I have found on the internet is helping at the minute.

If I want to setup a new email account on my phone I have to navigate to http://www.mobileemail.vodafone.net/ and login with my BIS username and password. This is a pretty good feature as it adds the mailbox automatically to my home screen on my phone.

Update to follow if a solution is found!

Drats…I thought it worked…how wrong I was

Decided today I wanted to sync my iPhone with my macbook and iMac.  Currently my iPhone has always synced with my iMac due to the fact well recently I only “Just Got My New Toy” Macbook. I followed a pretty decent guide which had lots of good reviews and comments stating that it worked so I gave it ago, all it involved was editing the iTunes library on my macbook and changing it via hex editor which seemed to work, I could sync from both machines and everything was working fine…or was it?

Tonight I came to launch some applications on my iPhone and BANG! It just takes me back to the home screen, not sure what has gone wrong but this has happened to me in the past when I have synced new applications to the iPhone.

The fix I did was a restore, luckily my iPhone is backed up on both machines and I was going to upgrade to 3.1 firmware anyways.

Update to follow.
